WEDDING AT SCHLOSS HÜNIGEN, BERN

Wedding at Schloss Hünigen, Bern. Spalier with bride, groom and guests.

Some weddings stay with you long after you’ve packed your cameras.
Juliana & Martin’s Brazilian–Swiss celebration at Schloss Hünigen is one of those days I still feel in my heart.
A warm July afternoon, flowers by Karin Mani flooding the garden with colour, 150 guests from Switzerland and Brazil, heartfelt speeches, and a party where absolutely everyone danced — this was a wedding full of faith, emotion and pure joy!
Here you can step into their day through photographs, a cinematic film and the couple’s own words.

Juliana & Martin’s wedding film

A Brazilian–Swiss love story in a Swiss castle

Juliana & Martin chose Schloss Hünigen for their summer wedding: a romantic castle surrounded by trees and gardens near Bern. It was the perfect place to bring together two cultures, two families and a lot of people who had travelled a long way to be there.
From the first email, I felt a strong connection with them. They are kind, affectionate and deeply grateful people. On the wedding day we hugged many times, laughed together and, I’ll be honest, at the end of the night I was close to tears myself — it felt like saying goodbye to friends!

GETTING READY

The day began quietly inside the castle. Juliana got ready in a beautiful room prepared for us, with big windows, soft light and rich colours — a dream for both photography and film.
Makeup and hair were done by Juliana Lima, and throughout the whole morning the bride was never alone: her mother stayed with her, sharing each little step of the preparation.

BRIDE FOTOSHOOT RIGHT BEFORE THE CEREMONY

Before the ceremony we used another stunning room in the castle for a short session: just Juliana, her the dress and the bouquet. These images and video clips became some of the most emotional parts of their story. The minutes right before the ceremony..!

A SPIRITUAL GARDEN CEREMONY FULL OF EMOTION

The religious ceremony took place in the garden, under a perfect summer sky. It started with a symbolic and very emotional procession: a young boy carrying the bible, Martin walking in with his mother, important pairs of friends and family members, and finally Juliana entering with her mother.
From the first steps of the procession, you could feel how meaningful this moment was for everyone.

The vows were spiritual and sincere, with speeches and words shared in both German and French.
Mothers and relatives wiped away tears, friends smiled through their emotion, and Juliana & Martin looked at each other with the quiet certainty that this really was the happiest day of their lives.
As a photographer and filmmaker, it was a gift: colour, symbolism, and so much feeling in every frame.

Hugs, children playing and garden moments

After the ceremony we moved to another part of the garden. This is one of my favourite parts of any wedding: the moment when everyone finally relaxes, walks up to the couple, and simply lives the joy of what just happened.

There were long hugs, emotional congratulations, children playing between legs and tables, and lots of laughter. Juliana had beautiful moments with her mother and with her bridesmaids; we also took time for group photos that felt relaxed and natural, surrounded by greenery and the castle as a backdrop.

The light was perfect — warm but softened by the trees — creating a timeless feel in both photos and film.

Group moments, bridal party and a joyful Spalier

One of the most beautiful parts of the afternoon was watching how friends and family surrounded Juliana & Martin. After the ceremony, the garden filled with little group moments: guests gathering around the couple, children weaving in and out of conversations, and hugs that seemed to last forever.
Juliana shared some special time with her bridesmaids — laughing, fixing dresses and bouquets, and simply enjoying the happiness of being all together in such a meaningful place. These moments with the bridal party brought even more colour and personality to the day.

There was also a joyful Spalier, with guests forming a corridor of love for the couple to walk through. Clapping, cheering, waving flowers… it was a powerful visual way to show their support and affection.
In both photos and film, these group scenes are essential: they show not only the couple, but the community around them — the people who travelled, cried, laughed and danced with them on this day.

Couple session — a quiet moment just for them

While their guests enjoyed the aperitif in the garden, we took a short moment for Juliana & Martin to step away and breathe together.

We walked through the grounds of Schloss Hünigen, using the trees, the castle façade and the soft summer light as our backdrop. Away from the crowd, they could simply be themselves: holding hands, laughing, taking in the fact that they had just got married.

These sessions are never about stiff posing for me. I guide you gently, but I’m always looking for the in-between moments — the way you look at each other, the way you relax once it’s just the two of you, the little jokes you share when nobody else is listening..

For Juliana & Martin, this time together became a calm, intimate chapter in their day. In the film and in the photos, these images create a beautiful contrast with the energy of the ceremony and the party: a reminder that, at the heart of everything, it’s about two people and their love.

Dinner, children at the tables, games, cake…

As the day moved inside the castle, the focus shifted to connection and celebration around the tables. Children sat with their families, creating tender scenes of little hands, big eyes and shared plates — moments that often become some of the most cherished images years later.

Friends had prepared games and surprises for the couple, filling the dinner with laughter, stories and playful challenges.

The cake moment was another highlight: simple, joyful, full of smiles and applause..!

A party where everyone danced — the Jerusalema surprise..!

And then, the party!
What I loved most about this evening is that everyone was on the dancefloor. There was no separation between “dance people” and “shy people”. Brazilians, Swiss, young, old — the energy was shared!

The biggest surprise came when all the guests suddenly gathered for a Jerusalema dance they had secretly prepared for Juliana & Martin. Seeing the couple’s faces as they realised what was happening was unforgettable.

From that moment on, the night exploded into one big celebration. For me as photographer and filmmaker, this gave the wedding film a powerful finale: movement, colour, music and pure happiness.

Juliana & Martin — a couple full of love and gratitude

Juliana & Martin are the kind of couple who make you remember why you do this work. They are open, loving and incredibly appreciative of the people around them.

Throughout the day they kept thanking me, hugging me and sharing how happy they felt. In their testimonial, they talk about how comfortable they were with me, how easy the communication felt, and how emotional it was to see the photos and film afterwards — they told me they cried a lot watching everything.

They describe the images and film as a treasure: something they will keep for the rest of their lives, to revisit the emotions of this day and to show to their future children, so that they too can feel the love that was present at Schloss Hünigen.

Here you have a testimonial in English, subtitled in German, where Juliana & Martin share:
– How they found me
– How they felt during our communication and on the wedding day
– What it meant for them to receive the final photos and film

For them, this is more than documentation. It’s a way to come back to their happiest day whenever they want, and a legacy for their future family.

Why Schloss Hünigen is a beautiful place to get married

Wedding location. Schloss Hünigen, Bern

Schloss Hünigen is an excellent choice for couples planning a wedding near Bern (also from a photographer and filmmaker’s perspective):

– The gardens offer beautiful ceremony and aperitif options, with trees that create soft, flattering light in both sun and cloud.

– Inside, there are elegant rooms with rich colours and big windows, ideal for getting ready and intimate portrait sessions.

– The venue works very well for medium to large weddings like Juliana & Martin’s, with 150 guests and enough space for each part of the day.

Whether the day is sunny or overcast, the combination of architecture and nature makes Schloss Hünigen very versatile visually.

How I like to tell wedding stories

For Juliana & Martin, I was with them from getting ready until the end of the party — capturing both the big, obvious moments and the small, quiet ones.

My approach is to blend:

Natural, candid moments — the way children play, the way a mother looks at her daughter, the spontaneous hugs, the tears, the jokes…

– With a few guided moments — couple sessions and group photos that still feel relaxed and true to who you are.

What matters most to me is that, when you look back at your photos and film, you can really feel your day again: the atmosphere, the energy, the love that surrounded you…

I want you, in the years to come, to have a way to return to the emotions and feelings you’re experiencing now, and those you’ll live on the happiest day of your lives.

Wedding team — vendors who made this day possible

A wedding like this is always a team effort. Juliana & Martin chose a group of talented vendors who brought their vision to life — from the flowers and makeup to the venue and the music. I am happy to recommend them here, as each of them played an important role in creating the atmosphere, colour and emotion you can see in these photos and in the film.
